C – Full day of conference here.
Meeting other bloggers has been a great part of my experience here at the conference. It’s probably the best part. Really meeting some nice people. I was a bit concerned last night, since I didn’t get to meet a lot of people.
So far, I got a lot of blogger pointers that I hope we can use here at Be Mindful. Be Human. There was a presentation with Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg, award-winning authors of “The Flavor Bible”. They gave good advice for us, if we wanted to publish books. Five percent is writing a book. The other 95% is marketing and distribution. It’s hard world out there to get a book published. But, it’s still a dream of mine. It was good information to know.
They gave a great statement on why we blog. “Blogging helps us continue to learn. We are here also to entertain. Most importantly we aspire to change the world.” They had a great quote, too: “Being a good writer has to do with living an authentic life.” This really rang true to why Be Mindful. Be Human. exists.
There was a presentation on modern editorial photography. I wish Jim was here for this one. There were a lot of cool techniques and tips about lighting.
The cooking demo before lunch made me hungry. They served one duck confit slider during the presentation. Just one?! It tasted good. Just needed more. A lot more. I was pretty hungry.
Cooking demos are fun to watch. Cooking demos without taste testing isn’t as fun as you think. Smell-o-vision makes you hungry. Can’t wait to have lunch right now.
Hour and a half cooking demo was brutal. But, finally, food. I’ll be sharing more on Monday about the conference food and a summary of what happened.
IFBC was fun! It was my first food blogging conference, too. I thought these two events that you write about here were among the best. You got some good photos!
